Ka Hale O Kawaihae: A Project of Catholic Charities On March 31st, renovations began on 20 units down at the Kawaihae Transitional Housing Program. Local carpenters donated their time and expertise to the project along with volunteers from Big Island Substance Abuse Council (BISAC Kohala & Waimea), Hui Malama-Kahookane Project, The Pulama Project and other community volunteers. Phase II of the renovations continued on April 13th. Soon, the units will be ready to fill with families with children who need housing.
