Saturday, March 18th 2006

Over 200 attendees supported this years Strengthening Families-Strengthening Communities event. Keynote speaker Gail Reichlin had the audience in stitches explaining how children can take you to the limit, but you need to remember to “breath” and take time out for yourself. Reichlin co-author of “The Pocket Parent” has been in the Early Education field for over 36 years.

Other sessions included: Effect of Ice-Exposure on Brain Development by Dr. Mariailiana Stark, Fatherhood: Men’s Greatest Calling by Kauila Ho, Feed Me a Story: If Reading Aloud is Brain Food…I Just Ate! By Pat Mizuno and many other early childhood focused sessions.

Sponsors for this event: Hawaii Island Chapter of the Hawaii Association for the Education of Young Children (HAEYC), in partnership with the North Hawaii Drug Free Coalition (NHDFC), Kamehameha Schools, People Attentive to Children (PATCH), INPEACE-SPARK, and the Good Beginnings Alliance.
