Professional football players, cheerleaders offer pointers to the kids

KEAAU -- More than 300 students ran, blocked and caught footballs in the fourth annual NFL Pro Bowl Youth Clinic.

The two-hour clinic, held Tuesday afternoon at the Keaau High School football field, taught kids from East Hawaii schools the basics of football and cheerleading.

The ultimate goal was not to teach the game, but rather to impress upon the students that success on and off the field requires hard work.

Three of the football players -- Atlanta guard Kynan Forney, San Francisco linebacker Jeff Ulbrich and Jacksonville guard Vince Manuwai -- had previously played for the University of Hawaii. Manuwai is a graduate of Farrington High School.
